Community Honors (WATCH)

The WATCH Mission

The Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) is an organization founded for the adjudication and presentation of annual awards recognizing artistic and technical excellence in community theatre throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and that these honors will:
Foster and encourage the growth of community theater;
Promote and enhance the image of community theater; and
Educate and inform the general public about the theatrical opportunities provided by the member theaters.

The awards ceremony was held at The Birchmere on the evening of Sunday, March 1, 2009.
(Luckily the snow was not as bad as predicted)

Do you want to present an award at next year's ceremony?

Did you receive an award at the last ceremony?
Were you a nominee at the last ceremony?
Are you a past award recipient or nominee from previous years?
Are you a producer or stage manager of a play or musical that received an award for Outstanding Musical or Play?

If you can answer "yes" to any of the previous four questions,
then you are eligible to be selected as an award presenter at the ceremony.

Presentation Ceremony

will be held
Sunday - March 1, 2009
at

Award Ceremony Tickets - $15.50
(ticket price includes the $0.50 "Admissions Tax" by the City of Alexandria)

Available at The Birchmere box office (in person - no additional fees/charges)
or TicketMaster (PLEASE NOTE: Substantial additional surcharges do apply when purchasing by phone or web - including additional facility fees and service charges)

NOTE: With the exception of press, photographers and other guests/staff/VIP's,
there will be no advanced/reserved seating this year.
Everyone (including musical nominee groups) will need to join
the Birchmere line number system before the doors open for seating at 6:00pm. 
Patrons entering at 6:00pm may reserve ONE table for their party at which they plan to sit.

Box Office/Lobby Doors Open: 5:00pm 
Seating/Food Service Open: 6:00pm
Ceremony: 7:00pm

Festival Seating - 500 Seat Capacity

Food and Beverages available 
from the Birchmere menu.
(not included in ticket price)

Attire: Jacket Requested

In case of inclement weather, call (703) 707-8360 for postponement information. 
This is a personal phone line for use only by patrons of the WATCH Awards.

The Ninth Annual WATCH Awards was very successful evening with a crowd of over 400 artists in attendance.
